Administrators at the Whyalla Steelworks have commended the efforts of AWU members, who have kept the plant running despite a complete lack of maintenance or investment in the facility.
One month on, the dire state of the steelworks is becoming clear to administrators, who are taking efforts to turn things around. Nearly 100 workers are set to be hired, and local creditors are finally being paid. With 10-12 credible potential buyers in the works, members are finally hopeful about the future.
